It was only a dream but I know I was there
I could smell the scent of the ocean spray
The whitewash of the waves was caressing you
I watched your muscles strain as you swam against the tide
The warmth of the sun was on my back
Waves splashed me as you swam through them
The water was clinging to the hair on your arms and legs
Your red cotton underwear hugging your body
I never saw your face - but I knew it was you
You were happy, you were breaking free
I was there watching you but I wasn’t with you
It was a beautiful and powerful dream
